One thing I know about India is that school is a big thing. Which school did you go to? Parents are worried about school for kids even before the child is born. Interviews for parents. Interview for kids. Getting the "right" school becomes the most important thing in parents' life. And today in the West Gate mall in rajouri garden, I was waiting for the person infront of me to get done with his order to order my bhel puri in a small stall in the 1st floor. The guy in front of me left and I was saying "ek bhel .... " and a hand comes infront of me and the guy says " ek bhelpuri". I request the guy taking orders that I am half way through my order and he takes my order first. Then, I get my small ticket for the bhelpuri. I give my ticket to the guy making bhel puri. Then again this hand guy (whose hand was infront of me all the while I ordered my bhel puri) comes with his coupon and started making requests - theekha jyada or thoda jyaldi. For someone who is making bhelpuri one by one ... this hand guy was too pushy. For me, he looked very ill mannered. I could not control myself. He was very well dressed. And I was sure he was going to some good school. I asked him "which school do you go to" And guess what the answer was - SPRING DALE. Phew!!! ... I had thought it was a good school. If the school cannot give such simple manners then why the fuss about this school? Then I started thinking ... is it the same in all "GOOD" schools?
You must be going to a good school ... what do you say?

Results
My niece Arushi told me ... its results time and I have not mentioned it yet in my blog. So, here I am sitting on my dining table thinking about what to write about results. Results show how much hard work you put into the exams. Higher score is obviously better but not necessary. If you scored high, try to maintain it while widening your horizon. If you just studied in the previous year, then you should start with some sports. Some activities and some brain twisters. Academic strength is important, but so is mental and physical strength. So find out what you like and try your hands at that. In today's world it is a must to have some hobby. And I personally believe that browsing the net is not a hobby - what do you say? If you have some cool hobby idea - share them with me.
Now if you did not get a very high score in the exams, then buckle up and get ready for the next year. Set a target. Scoring is not just about studying hard and writing good exam papers. It is about observing the teacher throughout the year and seeing what she puts emphasis on. If she likes a particular topic more than the rest - high chances that it will appear in the exams. So be attentive, enjoy the learning experience and also score high! Now tell me what was the reason for low marks? Too much interneting or too much football? Cut down on activities. You have 24hours. 8 is finished off in bed (sleep is also necessary so we can do nothing about this). But you have 16 besides that. So think how you can best use the 16hours you have. Come up with a balanced schedule. Do not forget to include at least 1 hours of physical exercise, be it cleaning your room or playing basketball. And of course 1 hour of reading - non text book reading. And see how fresh and confident you will start feeling in life.

EXAMS
Just finished!
Oh! its still going on
Ya ... studying now. will start in a few days.
I bet everyone uses one of these 3 lines in every conversation.
But how is it going? How is life in the exams season?
I think everyone should be prepared throughout the year and not be too stressed about the exams. Good marks gives you confidence. But all round development is more important to survive in this not-so nice world. Sports, drama, socializing, going out, meeting family, TV, games .. everything is important. But you need to know how much of what will make you a winner - Winner in life!
Read good books. Read about successful people. Read about doctors if you want to be a doctor. Read about businessman if you think you want to do business. Read about politics. Watch movies - not just for entertainment, but also see what the life would be like. Watch documentaries. It is always good to read about things related to what you want to do in life.
But for now ... exam time. exam is important. Study hard. Do good. Be good.

Cricket Humor
Cricket explained
You have two sides one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out. When both sides have been in and out including the not outs, THAT'S THE END OF THE GAME ! HOWZAT !!!!!
Sehwag in World Cup Team - is this a joke?
Sehwag's wife wants him to go to the market, but Sehwag is afraid to venture out in public. He feels people will go after him for his dismal performance on the field with the willow. So he does go to the market dressed as a woman. There, a beautiful woman comes up to him and says,"Kya Sehwag, kaise ho?" surprised Sehwag asks,"How do you know? The woman says ,"Pehchana nahin? Mein Sachin!"

CyberSmart
Have fun on the internet and explore cool sites, but remember to always be cybersmart.
Always remember the followings:
1. Keep your password a secret, never give it to anyone not even your best friend.
2. Ask your parents/guardian before you give anyone on the internet your name or address, your 'phone number, or any other personal details about you and your family.
3. Meeting people online might be fun, but remember the people you meet online may not be who they say they are. Someone claiming to be a 13 may be 40.
4. If you want to meet someone you have so far only met online, discuss with elders and ask them to accompany you. Always meet in a popular public place during the day.
5. If someone writes something rude or something that makes you feel uncomfortable in chat or email, leave the chatroom and don't respond to the email. (I hope you had not given your phone number.)
6. Be very careful about the kind of information you put in a networking site, blog, or post to a message board - it doesn't take much to give away your identity.
7. Tell your elders if you see upsetting language, nasty pictures or something scary on the internet.
8. Always ask a parent or adult before you fill out any forms. Ask parents' permission where money or credit card details are needed.
9. Don't accept any offers that seem too good to be true - they probably are too good to be true.
10. Be safe. Be smart!

Teen Phone Facts
Teen Phone Facts From a study by the University of Tampere (Finland):
Who buys? The average purchase age is 14-15, but kids as young as seven have wireless phones.
Who talks? Females use their phones most often to communicate with friends. Males describe their phones as status symbols and symbols of belonging.
What style? Teenagers like phones that are small and have "customizable" features like a choice of rings and colors.
What next? A teenager's first phone is usually basic, but is then replaced within 6-12 months by a much more sophisticated model, often paid for in full or in part by the teenager.
In India
Usually parents pay for the phones as teenagers hardly work.
Phone is more a status symbol, not just for kids but also for parents.
Cool - Not Cool
Not cool To have your wireless phone on in places like classrooms, restaurants, temples or movie theaters.
Cool If you forget to turn off your phone and it rings - putting you in an embarrassing situation - say "excuse me" and turn it off.
Cool If you're with family or friends, talk in a low voice and keep your conversation brief.
Cool If you're seated next to others in a public place, ask if they mind that you make a call.
Cool In an emergency, use your wireless phone to call for help, for yourself or for others.

Being a Teenager
It's tough being a teenager. Body changes. Voice changes. Moustache and beard appear. Periods happen. People start expecting a lot. Peer pressure. Family pressure. Oh! that's a lot. But ya, everyone goes through this teen cycle. Some enjoy the teens. Some don't. It's that phase of life where you are too old for chocolate and too young for coffee. But why not see it the other way round- you are not too old for chocolates and not too young for coffee. What do you say?
So share with me what else you have been not allowed to do until now because they think you are too young or too old?

Why What Who
Why?
Ever since I came to India, I have had interactions with more kids than people of my age. Most of them are teenagers. And everytime I am online, one or the other is online. So I guessed many such teenagers would be using more and more computers. With Internet, they would be exposed to the whole world. Yet, they are in India which is a complete new world in itself. Teenagers in India are very much protected by parents. Going out for coffee with friends is a big event. In USA, teenagers are a lot more independent. Many are also doing part time jobs making their own money. I had a friend from Germany who said she started dating at 13. I think since I have travelled many countries and know how things are there, I can provide some tips for kids that can help them. So that brings to the WHAT.
What?
Fashion tips. Study tips. Health care tips. Easy cooking tips. Internet reading tips. Hi5 tips. (Tell me more on what you want to know about and I will try get answers for you). Anything that you cannot ask your parents, sisters or brothers. Ask me.
Who?
All teenagers. Parents of teenagers. Friends of teenagers. Whoever deals with teenagers and needs a few tips. I am AT YOUR SERVICE.
